Blue green algae is a potentially fatal poison of dogs and has been seen in the Basingstoke canals. There are many species and the type found is dependant on many factors. Not all are toxic.
Typical signs of toxin ingestion are vomiting, blood in faeces, tummy pain, drooling, weakness with inco-ordination, collapse, difficulty breathing, slow heart rates, muscle tremors and coma/death.
